May 31, 2004 "An adventure is only an inconvenience rightly considered. An inconvenience is an adventure wrongly considered." - G. K. Chesterton Well, what can I say (at least you're not 'tired' of me =P). There are different paths for us to choose: some tough, some facile; some smooth, some slippery. All you can do is to try your best and stay in track. Anyway the beauty of Taft's system is that we have no more than 5 exams! Got rid of math today, 4 more to defeat!

Graduation day. Every single senior was gone by 4 this afternoon. Started to miss them. Sigh.. Godspeed Class of 2004!
In your end is your beginning. And the end of all your exploring shall be to arrive at the place from which you started, and know it for the first time. - T.S. Eliot

Afternoons are extremely painful to drift through without tennis practices. And very unfortunately, I seem to leave my homework undone and revisions untouched, even though exams are just a week ahead. Collect yourself! There only three days left of classes!
First Cut is the Deepest - Sheryl Crow
I would have given you all of my heart But there's someone who's torn it apart And he's taken just all that i have But if you want i'll try to love again Baby, i'll try to love again, but i know...
The first cut is the deepest Baby i know The first cut is the deepest But when it comes to bein' lucky, he's cursed When it comes to lovin' me, he's worse...
I still want you by my side Just to help me dry the tears that i've cried And i'm sure gonna give you a try If you want i'll try to love again, (try) Baby, i'll try to love again, but i know...
OOHHH, The first cut is the deepest Baby i know The first cut is the deepest But when it comes to bein' lucky, he's cursed But when it comes to lovin' me, he's worse...

May 23, 2004 "The greatest mistake you can make in life is to be continually fearing you will make one." Troy is a great movie, you should all go and watch it.
My favorite scene in the movie is when the King of Troy approached Achilles to retrieve his son’s dead body. The grief of losing a son, the mutual respect for heros, the agony of the human condition, …etc. At the heart of “Troy” is the conflict between two great heroes: Hector and Achilles, two great warriors who will follow what they believe in at all costs. Hector who believes in honor. Archilles who believes in glory. It is a tragedy, one of two heroic deaths due to circumstances that they cannnot escape. The movie has its poetic moments, such as when Achilles revealed a secret about Greek gods. They envy us mortal, because we only live once. Youth is sweet because we get old. Heros do what they do because they want to leave their mark before they leave our world. It’s what drives us to greatness.

Here I am again, disguised, by my own friend.
"You're not going to get a single in CPT. You're not popular."
Define popular, Derek. Are those who shoe shine, name others asses and bitches, popular? If yes, you win; just like you always do.
"我故作這樣強 可否終於給我好收場? 我看似這樣強 可否多一點讚賞?"
Addition @ 8:12pm We were victorious. We crushed Kent 7-0 today, ending our season with a tiny blemish by 10-1. I'm glad; I was down on both of my sets 1-4 and 2-5, but eventually won both by 6-4, 7-5. We'll have a movie trip tmr, most likely watching Troy. So, good night.

Purchased a preowned leather office chair from a senior today. Costed $50, but it's overall clean and comfortable.
Today was the last official tennis practice this season. Sigh..time flies. I will miss the team - undoubtedly one of the best jv teams in Taft history. Our last match against Kent tomorrow. It will be a good match.

Received my yearbook today. Obviously the cover is not as attractive as any of the LaSallians I've owned; but I hope that I'll make the difference next year. We'll see.
May 19, 2004 Happy Birthday, Mum. I love you.May 18, 2004
Played robinhood tennis today. Let's see the names:
Oat - "Love being Lefty" Teddy - "Rest for Ace" Dan - "Double loses Double" Me - "Volley for Two" Will - "Silence is Golden" Clay - *unknown Mike - "Slam Dunk Grunt + 1" Hank - "A Captain's Drink"
Yeah, you get the idea. It was fun; I miss this game.
May 16, 2004 Happy International Festival! Yes, International Festival. It is basically a pool side party around dinner time; with food from everywhere. It was okay: fun, great food. And it's also Steven's (the rich kid) birthday today. Anyhow he is now 17 but still a freshman..pretty pathetic..but..oh well..

We were one of the two undefeated teams at Taft, until today. We lost to Choate 3-4. I was the last one to finish my singles match, and I won 7-6 (7-2) 6-4, but it made no difference. Found out something big though - something really big - my head liquidmetal racket sucks so much! I broke its string and used my old racket and played so much better. Now that might be the problem, since I played Dan in my first challenge with my old racket and won! God forbid this! Argggggh!

I was wrong. I do give a shit. I couldn't sleep last night and continued dwelling into it.
No clue. May time cure the pain.
May 13, 2004 - dark thursday Lost to Dan Blaine in my challenge match. It means that I have failed to keep my lucky #3. It means that I have to take the ugly #4. It means that my era has gone; it's finished, it's gone. I'm gone. I'm done with it. I don't give a shit.

The respond didn't actually reach my teacher; he's too kind to collect them anyway.
I lost today. Believe it or not, my first singles lost. 2-6, 4-6. At least I tried; although I am pretty sure that I have enough skills to kill him when I play well. We won overall by a close 4-3. Choate this Saturday. Biggest match of the season. Better get myself going!

Just thought that it would be interesting to share my response to our photo teacher forcing us to type up a proposal for an independent project due before graduation day.
My Modest Proposal
Disclaimer: I don't have a proposal and I can't think of one. As an international student I see/observe Taft 24/7 except long holidays. I would love to go elsewhere for pictures - but don't forget about transportation. (And no, I don't know how to drive nor have I a car/bike/motor cycle)
Anyway, since I am forced to make one, let's go. What about plants? Walking along the pathways from the main building to Wu, do you ever notice the grass/trees - how they change each season, how they shed their leaves, how the tulips struggled to blossom?
That's my idea: plants. Observe the tiny insignificant details that remain undiscovered in our daily lives.
By the way, if we were to go on a field trip, I suggest going to the flower farm close by. (just my humble opinion)
Finally got a sense of how rebellious I am, huh?

A company that updates 6 notebooks a day? It's Sony. Well, I am especially intrigued by the new S90 (sounds like the jaguar "s" type..). With a 13.3 (first ever) inch widescreen, it seems to be replacing the old Z1 lineup. Kind of disappointed though - I really liked the Z1's design. Also noticeable is the new U type notebook. It is the world's smallest keyboardless notebook (not a tablet) that features a 1Ghz centrino processor. Anyway, see it yourself here.

We crushed Trinity-Pawling by 7-0 today. My doubles match with Wyman was 8-1 while my singles dominated 6-0, 6-0.
Just phoned my mum and gave her an abundance of virtual hugs + kisses. Happy Mother's Day to all great mothers in the world.
May 7, 2004
After two days of not posting anything, I promised to post something interesting.
Unfortunately, I think I will fail again. After today's lost in my challenge match against #2 Teddy (if you still remember him) by 4-6, 6-1, 4-6, I couldn't be more depressed. Allow me to rest for one more day - just one more.
[Update] I lied. I do have something interesting to post today. Have a look at the new thin but wide A17 VAIO, featuring 17-inch widescreen, up to 2.0Ghz Dothan Processor, and a 80gb hard disk.
May 4, 2004
Played some tennis in the afteroon. Big match tomorrow against Hotchkiss. Unfortunately (coz I am scared) and somehow fortunately, I will be playing 3rd position in singles and 2nd in doubles with Blaine. Fingers crossed; and God bless.
May 3, 2004
Last day of spring long weekend officially ended - back to hell.
Oh well..better start working now.
May 2, 2004 April has passed. The month of chaos with ups and downs, highs and lows, happy and sad times; the month of rejoice that was sweet and unforgetable.
Old things have to go before new ones come, right? So now May is here. Pretty much the same, except the fact that exams are just 4 weeks away. Better prep myself. On the slippery road to exams! No more sentiment..let's go!
