Daily // June 2004

June 30, 2004
Last day of June.. I should pull myself together and start something meaningful; something big. Anyway, enjoyment is always in order. Enjoy July.
June 29, 2004
Happy Birthday Kevin.

After lunch + some intense shopping in harbor city, went to mk with thomas and successfully found a fitting screen protector for my camera. Satisfied finally. It was a great day.

"Tennis is a game balanced by advantages, faults and love."
Posted part of the trip's photos in friandise. Since part of them are still stored in someone else's hd, I will post them asap.

Meanwhile, I think I should resume revising my French before I loose it again. And, my brother is back - with my scratched ms and his dropped-on-the-ground p8.

The picture says it all but the date is actually wrong. Replaced my lost v1 by this thing today.

Some of you have been asking about the pictures of my trip. Well, I will post them. When? Soon.

June 19, 2004
I'm actually leaving in six hours to rush for a flight to Shanghai around 8 am. Will be back on saturday, see you then. Reminder: don't forget to make everyday meaningful. Good luck and have fun.

There's always something better ahead of us. I made my leap today and upgraded my old drive. A pretty contrasting picture of old and new, ya?

"There is no work done."
I still couldn't believe I said that. My brain is seriously tangled up after exams. That responce made me seem extremely awkward and foolish, if not pathetic, probably someone suffering from mental retardation. Anyway thats enough of mocking myself. The only conclusion is that I should think twice before giving my intelligent answers to people who challenges my physics knowledge.

So, it was a fun day; watched the day after tomorrow. Pretty interesting. Could have ended in a more convincing way though; but it's good enough - good enough for me to recommend it.

June 16, 2004
Fell asleep beside my computer last night around 10. Why do I get tired that easily these days? Good question; but God knows. This 'symptom' cannot be classified into the jet lag catagory, since 10pm here means 10am there - who would fall asleep at 10am? But anyway, sleeping early is good; you should all sleep earlier.

It has been exactly a week since I came back. How do I feel? Unproductive. There seems to be something obstructing my schedule. I am forced to lay back and relax every day. Sigh..

From now on the 'friandise' button will only turn orange when something new is posted. Remember to search for orange every time you visit.

June 14, 2004
Sent my brother off today for a China trip for two weeks. For myself, I will be going somewhere next week. Where? Keep it secret first.
June 12, 2004
It's only 9pm now but I need to sleep after 3 hours of intense tennis + an excessive amount of shopping. Good night.
June 11, 2004
Eye check at 10 and dentist appointment at 11. After that bought a new pair of tennis shoes and continued my search for new sneakers, but failed. Went to ifc II afterwards, wandered for almost 3 hours, then ferried back to tst for dinner in Kamado ¤õ¶¡¤g. Energy level extremely low; need to recharge now.

Yes, about the new orange button on the left. Get in to learn more about it. Matière will be added when I have inspiration.

June 9, 2004

Glad that I'm back. Cut hair, got myself a new wallet, unpacked, and ready to sleep. Good night.

BU was fun. Although only 3 of our 9 teams entered the semi-final (16 out of 90 teams), which included me, none of us got the top three. My car got perfect 5s for the first rounds, but got pathetic 2s for the semi-final since it didn't come back. Sigh..who knows.. Took a lot of pictures, but were really blurry, probably because most of them were taken by other people instead of me.

So, final word here at HDT 228 on june 6: leaving tomorrow at 6pm and shall be back to hk on wednesday around 8am. And, good luck in your exams!

The "Mooney" Version - to the faculty members on June 7th
Yesterday a number of Taft students competed in the 14th annual Boston University Engineering Design Challenge. In the competition, teams of 2 students build a vehicle powered by 2 AA batteries that will move down a 6 ft track as a competitor moves in the opposite direction, deposit a hackey sack in a hole and return in under 15 seconds. Points are awarded for different aspects of the race but in a nutshell the idea is to get your sack in the hole first but then to delay your return so that you come back really close to 15 sec without going over. We entered 9 teams this year (two "teams" were single individuals). The teams of Eugene Young and Wilson Yu, Nathan Chuang and Zernyu Chou, Samantha Glazer and Spencer Barton made the semifinals, the top 16 of the 90 total after four rounds. Spencer and Sammy made the finals and ended up in 5th place.

June 3, 2004
One more; just one more.
June 2, 2004
Two more to go! Lucky Steven (the rich kid) and Wilson will have their last exams tomorrow because their chinese V exam is replaced by a portfolio. Damn them!
June 1, 2004
Science was okay. Two more to go (excluding English since we only have to hand in a portfolio).

HEY hey Hey.

I trust everyone is in a deep depression after such a momentous semester of photography has now drawn to a close with only "academic" examinations left to feast on your free time?

No need to answer that question.

Your portfolios have nearly all been closely studied and randomly graded. I will just briefly mention, that fine photography abounds. Congrats. The aforementioned portfolios will be ready for pick-up tomorrow from 11:00-3:00ish in the friendly confines of the darkroom. I say "..ish" because I am meeting with my advisees tomorrow at 3:00 so I may be a bit busier after the three o'clock hour, but I will in fact be in the darkroom probably until around 4:00.

SO, if you want your portfolio back, come by tomorrow and PLEASE please bring with you any leftover film and more importantly the TAFTSCHOOL CAMERA THAT IS PROBABLY BURIED UNDER SOMETHING CURRENTLY. No, not all of you have a camera that belongs to the department, but eight of you do. Also, tomorrow would be a splendid time to empty out your photo cubby as well before the summer school descends upon our chemical sanctuary.

I shall ramble no more. See you tomorrow.

Mr. Riggie

Is that cool or what?
