Can't believe that tmr is actually October 1st. Well, I guess it's a good sign - coz time only passes quickly when you're enjoying it~
As you all know, I have been 'friends' with the library for the past week; which means, I'm getting quite familiar with mac osx. In fact, I even thought of replacing my frizzled notebook by an Apple PowerBook, but..anyway. Yea, one feature I like a lot is exposé. Gladly, after returning to windows, I found a nice software imitating what exposé does. It's called winplosion. See it in action and get it here.

Although I sounded dull yesterday when I mentioned my new notebook, it was not the case. When I got the package and realized that it's it, at that precise moment, I felt satisfied. Well, I hope that you're as excited as I am (I still am now).
Just the right size, the right style | Is it true that manufacturers like to name their best products with the letter 'S'? Before yesterday, I wasn't sure; but for now, I have to say they sure do. Let's see the specs:
VGN-S170
Intel® Pentium® M Processor 735, (1.70GHz, 2MB L2 cache, Dothan)
512MB PC-2700 333MHz DDR
ATI Mobility Radeon 9700 Graphic Chipset (w/64 mb video ram)
60GB HDD
DVD-RW Drive
And pictures of course:

A week without a notebook had passed. I received a new one today. Will keep you guys posted.

Resumed reading my long-forgotten HP 5 book this afternoon. Well, finally get to the part where it talked about..
The Article 23 in HP 5
"It is this last function that the Ministry has now formalized with the passing of Education Decree Twenty-Three, which creates the new position of 'Hogwarts High Inquisitor.'"
This unjust decree passed by the Ministry of Magic in the book is, of course, reminiscent of the Article 23 debate in hk. Was it simply coincidental; or did JK Rowling purposefully embody her view into it? Still, I am stunned all the way by her intelligently knitted book.
September 18, 2004 | Dedication
Collegium had our first official performance today, in Walker Hall, singing in a memorial service for Meg Page'74. From the benediction from her classmates, I think she was someone especially unique. Below is quoted from her senior page selection in 1974:
You'll never win if you never play - Say Yes
Nothing's gained if there's nothing tried.
Don't say why, say why not!
What lies beyond what is; is not.
So what! Say Yes
You might get mugged as you walk the street,
But on the other hand you might greet
That handsome stranger you've longed to meet. Say Yes!
Yes I am, Yes I'll be, and Yes I'll go. ~ Liza Minelli
I like her selection. Anyway, I wish God had mercy on me today.. Rain started pouring down right before I headed to Walker Hall (somewhat like perfect timing). So, we (obviously not me alone) were all soaked when we sang.
Getting slightly crowded. Yes, "Paris in the spring"!September 17, 2004
I have no time. No time for this. Big french test tomorrow and I've revised nothing yet. I'm screwed.
September 16, 2004 | Fit-in?
Just sharing some thoughts about fitting in. It's an extract from my english assignment, "Portrait of yourself living in America".
If you tell someone that you live half-a-world away from home, you'll probably see an awe-strucked face. But in fact, it happens everyday, and I myself am a living sample of that.
...To fit it, I had to learn their language, dress like them, talk like them, behave like them, and somehow imitate them in every possible way. This rigorous confinement almost altered the real "me".
But for now I have found the most suitable way to handle this. Living in America doesn't mean that I have to behave like an American. Instead, I chose to be myself. I chose to create my own style instead of following one - because only by this can you live with dignity.
So, just be yourself. However regrettable you feel because of the mistakes you made, have led you to realize what you really want. Without these regrets, you won't even know how much someone or something means to you. Stay strong..stay strong.

Had xc practice in Whitewood, a soft, loamy soiled trail for about 2 miles. Air was good, run was easy, but kinda long. I'd rather have shorter, tougher runs; but of course the best would be short and easy ones~
Thinking of doing advanced photography isp this winter. Hmm..
Addition @ 10:19pm
Stumbled across this website called ChangeThis. It's a site that produces high quality pdfs on current events, aiming to spread information on the web in a different manner. And, looks like they're trying hard to avoid ads. It's nice to see people devoted for the good of mankind.
September 14, 2004 | 11:30
Well, these few days I have become quite acquainted with 11:30. Beside extremely tough xcountry practices, I have hardcore courses such as french II hnrs + ap chem..insanity.
Anyway, I have kind of get used to xcountry training. Remember those races we had in form 2, aka approx~8x400m run? Yeah, I kinda feel like I'm back in that shape, running and leading all the way like there's no future. Isn't it weird to feel like you're 14 all over again (when you're only 2 yrs older)?
Got a new pair of xc shoes. Take a look.

Colorful. This morning me and jeff walked to Blockbuster to return a dvd, then ate lunch at Starbucks and bought alot of stuff. Let's see..on the left are mint refreshments; in the middle is a mug bought in Starbucks; on the right are boxes of tissue paper expressionated with lovely pictures and some post-its.
Worked through the whole studyhall for english essay. Have to go for history now. Cya.
September 11, 2004 | 911 Memoir A moment of silence for those who lost their lifes 2 years ago today.
"Beyond myself, somewhere, I wait for my arrival."
Although I'm no complicated person, I always complicate things. Say, for this daily entry, I've spent almost fifteen minutes on it already, switching from one topic to another. Anyway..why not just start with my day? This another depressing day started with history..awh..first block history..how aweful does that sound. Then french; and english with the ridiculously-boring teacher who dominates her own class' discussion. At 1:30 had cross-country practice which contained 1.5 miles warmup run, 5x400m hillside sprints, and another 1.5 miles warmdown run. How great that is to have legs that sore when you move them? Well, interesting enough, I played another 2 hrs of tennis with jeff after xcountry..
Got a small cork board. Still undecorated. Take a look.
September 10, 2004 | Chanting for healing and power
I am absolutely in love with Collegium. It lets me be myself and yell out everything, plus, we sing good songs. This one, Siyahamba, is an African bonfire song. Get a similar version here.
English lyrics:
We are marching in the light of God. We are marching in the light of God (repeat) We are marching, we are marching, Oo, We are marching in the light of God.
P.S. Buddy looks great. Congratulations on that.
September 9, 2004 | Who's who
First day of school wasn't that horrible. Since many teachers left last year, inexperienced new ones replaced them. I myself have two classes taught by new teachers. Let me list their names so that in the future, in case I write anything about them, you know who I'm talking about.
American History - Murphy, Daniel*
French - Denyer, Brian
English - Phelan, Sharon*
Chemistry - Hostage, David
Math - Palmer, Karla
Collegium - Fifer, Bruce

No matter how I turn my face away from it, I'm back, and there's nothing I can do about it. It feels like a freed man put back in jail; or a little bird caught and locked in a cage. I don't want it to feel this way, but thats how I feel now. Well, I hope that soon I'll become too busy with work to remind myself of these horrible thoughts.
Like last year, a picture of my dorm room. Next to that is a new mouse I got for a price no one would believe.
September 6, 2004
Back in my dorm room.. Pix tmr. More later.
September 4, 2004
Haven't been writing for a while. Ya, on 2nd we watch the US Open again. Met jeff that day. On 3rd went shopping in ny city; walked the whole day from 42 to 59th street.. As for today..how about a pix to sum up? (I'm tired:)
September 1, 2004
It still here~ Well, our flight was fine, only 15hrs, and quite as expected, I didn't read much. Had dinner in a fine Korean restaurant overlooking uptown Manhattan.
As for today, we traveled to Flushing Meadows for the US Open. Now that was really impressive since it's my first real-life visit to a grand slam tournament. The grounds was totally awesome. Watch Serena and Dementieva and some other doubles matches.
