February 27, 2005
10 days count down to spring break starts today. Let's get through it.
Meanwhile nothing special happened today.
February 26, 2005
Handed in my term paper rough draft today. Supposedly, I have a a sleep-in since we don't have history; yet I forgot about it and woke up early.. Oh well.. Played some tennis in the afternoon with jeff. Both of us played quite badly. Anyway, after dinner, Wilson, Chris and I spent two hours getting through "the hardest riddle on earth". We're currently at level 16. Try it yourself here.

BG Music -
Piano version of Joey's 怯..........
Enjoy...............

Today is headmaster's holiday.
Yesterday was the day that headmaster's holiday was announced.
Yesterday would have been a great day if I didn't go to the infirmary at night and weren't forced by the insane nurses to stay there for another night.
Today would have been a great day if I didn't have to sleep at the infirmary last night and didn't have to finish my term paper rough draft.

Meanwhile, there are only 12 days till springbreak.
February 23, 2005   A Wild 222..
February 22 之 大病一場
7:00 @ my room | Woke up, with my whole body feeling warm. I suspected I had a fever, and moved on.
C block English @ library classroom | Felt a bit dizzy. Before class, I had some fruits and a cup of water.
D block Physics @ WU | Felt even dizzier, this time with a slight headache. I almost took in nothing from the class..
E block math @ WU | Everything got worse. Fever, headache, dizziness, plus nauseous feelings. Mrs. Palmer sent me to the infirmary in the middle of class.
11:45 - 4:45 @ infirmary | Took some medicin, but in and out they came.. Attempted to sleep, but wasn't able to.. Everything was getting worse.
5:00 @ infirmary | Mrs. Keys (PA @ infirmary) decided to bring me to emergency to get hydrated, since I wasn't able to hold any liquid/fluids. The word 'emergency' scared the heck out of me..
5:15 @ St. Mary's hospital | Queued up for emergency. Glad that Mrs. Keys came with me. Both fortunately and unfortunately, the emergency department was quite laid back and relaxed. That made me less nervous , but my nauseousness resufaced. We waited for more than half an hour.
6:00 @St. Mary's hospital | A doctor came and treated me. Took out some blood from my vein, and attached a bag of 'salt + sugar combination' to get me hydrated. Waited nearly two hours for the results of my blood test.
8:00 @ St. Mary's hospital | Healthy blood. No problem. Felt much better after the hydration. Realized how important fluids are in my body. Mrs. Key's drove me back to school.
8:15 @ my room | Gathered some homework from my room. Left my roommate a msg.
8:30 @ infirmary | Back to infirmary.. Took a shower, had some medicine, watched tv for two hours, and slept at 11. Thing's seemed to be much better.

As for today, I woke up around 8, watched some tv, and remained in the infirmary till noon. I was freed. In the afternoon, my nauseousness came again.. I walked back to the infirmary for some pills, and retrived my math test from Mrs. Palmer. I thanked her - afterall it was she who urged me to get treated.

I'm feeling much better now. Daringly, I even drank some coke during our last volunteering meeting. Yum..the apple crumb was good (too). Oh well, hope that I'll survive another night, and we'll see how it goes tmr.

P.S. I do remember posting the comic strip. Enjoy.

February 21, 2005
Today was a relatively less-busy monday, since I have both g and f block off. Rumors of possible headmaster's holiday this week surfaced, though according to Rusty Davis, there shall be "no headmaster's holiday anytime soon". Oh well. A day of holiday this week is not gonna be too exciting, since I'd have to spent it on my term paper anyway. If only it could be incorporated into spring break..

A comic from Wilson. I'd regret if I don't post it. Promise to post another one tmr.

"The best time to fix the roof is when the sun is shining."
Didn't do much today. Could have started my rough draft, but failed. Meanwhile, there are only 17 days till spring break!

BG Music - Accidentally in love
The old bg music was present for an epic of 12 days. Perhaps it's time for a change. Something more lively, more exciting. Introducing Counting Cow's Accidentally in love. Most of you will probably remember this song from Shrek.
Enjoy!

February 19, 2005
Worked till 2 to get my 7pg single-spaced outline done last night. It made me extremely sleepy the whole day today (which is also Parent's Day). Played some tennis in the afternoon. Collegium performed for roughly 15-minutes in the evening. Unfortunately, I didn't watch the play this time.. Instead we ordered out. That's about it for the day.

More..
Today when jeff and I arrived at the gym for tennis, the 'tennis room' with nets, balls and stuff was locked. We kindly knocked on Joe-the-gym-manager's door. He opened the door with a disgruntled face and said, "What are you here for." "Can you open the tennis room for us please?" "No, I'm busy" We were not surprised by his hostile response, since he has been infamous for his peevishness. Perhaps we need to ask one more time to persuade him that we need the key. Yet, I made the wrong move by asking, "Can we just borrow the keys and return them to you after we're done?" "No, I said I'm busy. I won't do it." He was enraged. No longer able to brook an old-fat-grumpy-guy-who-should-be-fired-in-no-time, I questioned him, "WHY?" I can see that he was seething inside; so was I. "I'm busy! I won't open it. You lose. Get out of here." He shut the door and left us standing outside. I lose? Far from that. I found another worker and forced him to open the door for us. That old fellow should definitely be fired.

February 17, 2005
Hydrox and Oriocos performed in their annual valentine concert, which is belated this year. Did I go? No. Nor did I have time to watch the play. Perhaps tmr; or saturday.

Meanwhile, murph decided that we only need to hand in a detailed outline - instead of a 10pg rough draft - for saturday. Still, he stresses that it needs to be very detailed i.e. 7pg non double spaced. How is that possible? With all the nuts and bolts, why don't we just write a rough draft? Well, my conclusion is that he's too lazy to read them anyway..

A minute ago, I scrutinized collegium italy trip's itinerary (in spring break) and noticed that we're actually visiting Vatican City! St. Peter's Basilica! You might be confused by my abrupt jubilation.. but I have to say, after reading Angels & Demons, I'm dying to pay a visit there myself. In twenty two days, I will be there!

Still quite hype about that. Anyway, there's gonna be a big math test tmr. After all those 4's, I might want to do better on this. Off to study now. Good nite.

"What is worth doing is worth the trouble of asking somebody to do it."
"Hooooooooo....." Thats how Odds Bodkin started his story with - the quiet hustle of the wind. Believe it ornot, he is a professional story-teller; yes, a story-teller in the 21st century. Yet, his performance in morning meeting today was amazing. Unfortunately I did not have time to further enjoy his show tonight - my work is baffling me.

Tmr afternoon, I shall seclude myself inside the library to get my paper done. I, too, have noticed that I'm too vulnerable to distractions inside my room. We'll see how it goes..
February 14,2004    St. Valentine
"Whoever loved, that love not at first sight?"
It's honestly quite frustrating to see everyone else obtaining crush cans while I have none. Oh well, I am used to that. Showing a short poem in French, by Denyer:

Tes yeux
bleus brillants,
percent mon coeur,
comme une mer des nuages
amoureux.

Congratulations to K&C on her 2nd Anniversary.
Perhaps I was wrong about Vertu Ascent. According to Kevin, it was released a year ago, an "old new phone" he says. Sorry for passing incorrect information..

So, today. Yes. Met with the girls again to finish up for our presentation tmr. That basically took my whole afternoon. After that, while almost everyone else was in coffee house, I had dinner + dessert feed. The 'dessert' wasn't bad, in fact, quite good. As least we had a taste of 年糕 and 蘿蔔糕 here.

The coming week will be extremely busy. Term paper rough draft will consume all my afternoons. Anyway, I still have to finish my french essay now. Good nite.
February 12, 2005
After classes and lunch, Shannon and Casey came over to our common room for e.presentation again. This time, people were just peeking outside to see what's going on with two girls and one guy in a room... Oh well.. Had dinner in Golden Palace then. Well, the food was so much better than those order-out stuff. Also bought the superb soft & chewy cookies from k-mart. Back in my room, I remarkably beat Wilson up in a game.. It was the climax of the day. Some pix we drew for fun, including an ambigram for the divine proportion in math - phi.

"When you speak, your speech should be better than your silence would have been."
Met with Shannon and Casey for english presentation during study hall. Well, something is unveiled - Shannon is actually R.W. Emerson's great-grand-daughter. She's a descendent of the prestigious 19th century American writer! How intriguing is that?

Meanwhile, Vertu released its lastest luxury phone. It's made of materials including Liquidmetal (same material as my tennis racket), finished with a screen of sapphire crystal, a material second only to diamond in hardness. Of course, such luxury imperils your wallet: it costs $3850. Perhaps it's for those who expect everything to be elaborate, extravagant, and incomprehensibly grand. Fortunately, I'm not such person.

February 10, 2005
During volunteering this afternoon, the mischievious 5th grader Tim tempted, "I can lift you up". I, of course, ignored such wild imagination, though I know that it's not totally impossible considering my weight. Well, after the session, when I was leaving the classroom, someone suddenly lifted me up for an inch from behind.. Sure enough, it was Tim. Is it embarrassing to be lifted up by a 5th grader? You bet; but it was fun. I 'enjoyed' it.

Just realized that our 10pg term paper rough draft is due on monday. It's not that bad; but considering the fact that I have written 0pg, it's quite bad. I gotta study for tmr's phy quiz. So, good nite.
February 9, 2005   初一
新年快樂!
The Year of the Rooster started quite ordinarily. French class was boring as usual; physics wasn't too interesting; history..nvm history. What about the afternoon? Well, technically I did nothing meaningful. Dinner? Flik just assembled some 'chinese' curry noodle cuisine. As you see, there's absolutely no 'new year feel' here.

Perhaps I shouldn't be so pessimistic? I mean, it's the start of a new year, right? Indeed. No matter what, I sitll have to look forward. Now, I'm looking forward to sleeping (soundly). Good nite.
February 8, 2005   聞雞起舞
This is my second consecutive year to celebrate chinese new year outside of hk. How do I feel? Frustrated and desperate. You know, I even smelt the illusory scent of 蘿蔔糕 during breakfast. Yet, my despair might have to continue for years, next yr..4 yrs of college.. Sigh.

Quarter grades were out today. Perhaps it's a warning to all juniors, urging them to endeavor in this term?

"You all laugh because I'm different; I laugh because you all are the same."
Didn't do much today. Just finished some remaining french homework and read english. By the way, there are only 30 days left till spring break. I'm actually quite surprised.. Time seemed to have passed quicker this winter term.

I'm tired. Better recharge well before returning to study mode tmr. Good nite.
February 6, 2005   LWE
Strictly speaking, today is the last day of winter long weekend. It once again proved the theory "time passes quicker when you're happy" accurate. Yet, everyday seemed to have passed the same way - wake up, work, brunch, tennis, dinner, chill time, sleep. Still, it might sound boring or dull to me now, but I'm sure that by tmr night I'll miss such sequence.

I've been addicted with themes these few days. Perhaps I'm an aesthetic person afterall. So, if you are using firefox, try Safarifox, which renders firefox into a safari-looking browser. There's also a pleasant variety of themes available at the author's website. Cheers.

1570. That's Nathan's score. I feel like killing myself now.
Another afternoon spent for tennis. Jeff is sleeping over tonight at cpt. It'll be interesting..

BG Music - LeeLoos theme
Time for a refreshment (not food). Introducing Maksim's LeeLoos Theme.
Enjoy.

This morning, a phone call woke me up. "Can I make an appointment with Dr. xxxxxx this afternoon?" I struggled for a response since my brain just started up. "Wrong number," I replied and hanged the phone. Almost immediately, another person (I suspect they're a family, or a gang, if worse) called while I was about to get back to sleep.. "Hello, I'm looking for a doctor's office." "Wrong number," I said, trying to sound authoritative to scare him away. Sure enough, it didn't, and a few minutes later my phone rang again. This time, I left it ringing. Eventually they would get to my voicemail thing and realize they dialed a wrong number. Well, I guess I overestimated their intelligence. They actually left a msg for me, after listening to my voice stating my name, not some doctor's. Oh well..

SAT scores are out today. Verbal score is higher than predicted, math is fine.

Meanwhile, jeff and I played another 3-hr of tennis in the afternoon. I wouldn't say it's a complete failure this time, but it wasn't that good either. I'm still disappointed at my skills. And I broke my string too. Soonest restring? Probably in two weeks..
February 3, 2005   LWE
"To steal ideas from one person is plagiarism; to steal from many is research."
So, long weekend finally started. Played tennis with jeff immediately after classes. A complete failure. Still in agony.. Anyway, for dinner, 18 of us went to some japanese+chinese restaurant. The food was honestly quite bad.. I always think that restaurants with one speciality tastes better than those with multiple ones.

This rule applies to college applicants too, somehow. Colleges tend to favor kids with one particular expertise than those mediocre all-rounded ones. But of course, it is the best to excel in everything..which, in the end, is quite impossible.

Yet, nothing is impossible, ya?
February 2, 2005
"When everything is coming your way, you're in the wrong lane."
Finished my history term paper bibliography today. At first, I thought that we could just pop in any time tmr and hand it in.. But no, we have A super. Sigh..a sleep-in chance missed. Yet, lwe starts tmr after class anyway, so all is good.

Planning ahead, I would like to play tennis for 2-3 hrs each day from tmr till Monday. Feeling desperate to improve my game. Perhaps because of recent prevailing tennis news? Who knows..

I've been using a new theme + cleartype now. Quite good. My eyes got use to it I guess. Take a look.

February 1, 2005
Bad news. Hingis was defeated on the first round in her comeback test in Thailand.. (6-1, 2-6, 2-6) Well..what did I expect? Let's just hope that she decides to try a few more low-key tournaments, regain her confidence, and comeback with the tact and determination she once possessed.

Hingis falls in comeback..

Two more days till long weekend. Anticipating..

P.S. My new contacts arrived today. Quite timely indeed. Perhaps I should return to my previous style?
