ThxGiving
November 29, 2008
Thanksgiving break is almost over, but it was fun when it lasted. For example, I enjoyed the korean buffet at HEEBEEN, and the subsequent 'dinner' at home with my two lovely roommates (who made me say thanks to them) on Thursday's Thanksgiving day. I also enjoyed (not really) sleeping at 1am and waking up at 4am, for the sake of Black Friday shopping (or really, American consumerism). The shopping itself was quite fun. It felt like staying up to study, except you don't use your brain since you're not thinking as much.
I also enjoyed a very traditional American lunch on Friday, in Hampden's Cafe Hon with Jessica, Kahei and D, although my mind was half awake after 6 hrs of shopping. Then you'd think I'd get some sleep, but I had to entertain our landlord, who popped in to inspect our apartment, and of course to cook for the gathering later at night. How was the dinner? I enjoyed it. Then I could finally sleep..
I always perceived Thanksgiving as the western edition of Mid-Autumn Festival. Both bring families and friends together; they're meant for us to pause from slaving in work and enjoy a moment of caring from each other. And thus, Thanksgiving is more than just eating (and shopping). It's about, well, giving thanks to those who cared about you for the past year, and also acknowledging that you know they care.
Hotpot
November 26, 2008
Enjoyed a rather fulfilling hotpot (yet another one after saturday's) with Amy, Kahei, Stanley, Jessica, and Dewek and Liban.
Holiday officially starts, and will end on sunday. Let's see what happens tmr.
Goodbye, Sandra
November 25, 2008

My printer, Sandra, has served me well over the past 6 years. But a few weeks ago, she stopped loading paper. I always knew this would happen one day, but it still surprised me when it did. I was depressed that my companion, who printed pages and pages of essays, projects, papers, homeworks, notes, photos etc over the years, is now out of order. Goodbye, Sandra.
Meanwhile, I have acquired knowledge that snacking in general is detrimental to dental health, from soon-to-be-dentist Kevin. Why? Because every time you eat, it takes 40 minutes for your oral pH to return to normal level, and if you snack between meals it disturbs the balance. How annoying! But he lowered my concern by the fact that drinking water after snacking would help. So, snack on!
Missing love; Dido's new album
November 24, 2008
Wow, I just came to notice that I haven't loved anyone for a while now. I remember two years ago, I was so madly in love and devoted to a person, that I followed everything that person did, thought about that person almost every second, wanted that person to find/call/message me before I find/call/message back, tried in every way possible to be with that person etc.
But that ended soon and I had moved on. Yet this time, love was not as deep. If the previous one was an obsession, then the second one was a mere crush. And that ended too.
Strangely, I miss love.
Update: Oh dear! Dido's new cd is out. Without Kevin's reminder, I wouldn't even have known. I remember listening to her CD religiously in Uncle Tam's house in NJ during thanksgiving '05. What a strange coincidence that it's almost thanksgiving again!
Left or right?
November 22, 2008
Btw, I finally solved the occasional misalignment of the bg image here (which causes jagged edges). It occurred because safari/firefox detects an odd window-width. (It's solved by using "background-position: 50.5% 0".)
Getting colder
November 17, 2008
Weather's getting very chilly, right now it's 2C. The good thing is that most of the time I'm indoors. This could sometimes be a bad thing - since the indoor heat is so strong, I always sweat when I get indoors. A way to prevent this is to wear layers.
Meanwhile it seems that Sony has removed Mika's Orion (not onion) mv due to copyright. I've updated a live version, which is equally good. Enjoy.
A tireless weekend
November 16, 2008
Celebrated Kahei's birthday in Nolan's tonight with Derek, Renee, Eleen, Sunny, and Amy (who baked brownie). It was exceptionally empty there, almost like we booked it beforehand.
Besides that, this weekend was rather bland. Oh I've fallen in love with Mika's song, which is used in a currently showing j-doroma: Ryusei no Kizuna. The drama series itself is surprisingly good, and here's wiki-drama's synopsis:
Ryusei no Kizuna tells the story of three orphans, whose parents were murdered long ago. Together, the three vowed on a shooting star to one day avenge their parents. After many years, the two brothers have found the murderers, and are set to carry out their plan for vengeance when they realize they've made a serious miscalculation; you see, their sister...
There's a good mixture of tension and humor (in mini-plays envisioned by the elder brother..eh difficult to explain, you'll need to see it to understand it).
Me
November 13, 2008
It's been a while since I've written.. I don't know why, but lately I've become more shut in, and slightly unwilling to share.
Sometimes I think, why do I care? Why should I care? What's wrong with just me being happy? Isn't that enough? But this is the problem - if I am really happy, I wouldn't care to ask myself such questions.
I'm so me. I'm just me. I am me.
Sleeping on time
November 3, 2008
Allow me to sleep on time tonite (1am). Good nite.
SL
November 2, 2008
A tiring weekend that drained more energy than usual. Somehow I'm glad it's over. By the way, October recorded a total visit of 640 (25724-25084), averaging 20.645 visits per day. Thanks for you support. Lastly, enjoy this quiet and soothing medley.
