Two years after having one of the lowest birth rates in the world, Georgia [the country] is enjoying something of a baby boom, following an intervention from the country's most senior cleric.
At the end of 2007, in a move to reverse the Caucasian country's dwindling birth figures, the head of the Georgian Orthodox Church, Patriarch Ilia II, came up with an incentive. He promised to personally baptise any baby born to parents of more than two children.
There was only one catch: the baby had to be born after the initiative was launched.
The results are, in the words of the Georgian Orthodox Church, "a miracle".
...The country's birth rate increased by nearly 20% during 2008 - a rate four times faster than the previous year.
Many parents say they took the decision to have another child on the basis of the Patriarch's incentive.

Please tell me I'm not putting an enormous foot in my mouth. Have a nice day.
Sneaking Suspicion
March 28, 2009
I have a sneaking suspicion that I have changed. I've become complacent. I believe everything will go its way for me in the end. But I don't know.. I feel lost..
In a different note, I watched 非誠勿擾 just now. It's a great movie that has moments that touches your heart. It is pitched as a romance comedy, but I think it's leaning towards a 愛情小品 with a decent story line and some comical moments.
Weather in Baltimore is dismal by the way. It's rainy and wet and gloomy and bleak. Hopefully it'll be better next week and we can visit DC for the Cherry Blossom Festival.
Mama Chen

A few days ago a visitor came to live with us for a week. His name is Victor, though we call him Mama. Why? Well, he cooks two meals a day for us and each meal averages three dishes. Quite amazing.
Meanwhile I have Econometrics midterm tmr. Good luck to me.
Back from break
March 22, 2009
Spring Break is almost over, and school will resume tmr.. How was my break? Well, it was enjoyable. I had a great time with my aunt and grandma, who flew over to visit us, and with my two lovely roommates, Derek and Lili. Our home has never been this crowded before and it's nice to be able to use our bigger dining table. Anyway, I've actually put up some pix for you. Enjoy.

"Have a fun time y'all."
Boo
March 3, 2009
So my Stat midterm was indeed postponed from monday to tomorrow. That means I don't get to watch A.I.. That's just damn great.
Btw it's pretty much decided that Derek and Lili will be visiting me in spring break, which is barely two weeks away. Quite exciting, no? What's more exciting is that my grandma and aunt will be there..tmr! I can't wait to go home. Of course, before all that, I have a few things to handle =/.
Spring, not quite
March 1, 2009
March has come, but snow is falling. Right now, temperature is about -1C outside, and a small snow storm (6-9 inches of snow) is expected overnight. Will school be canceled? I hope not.. because I have two midterms tmr and I'd hate to have to delay them. Good luck to me.
Total visits in March was 596 (28153-27557), averaging 21.29 per day. Not too shabby. Thanks for your support. Now, back to studying..
