Restaurant City
April 20, 2009
Spellbinding. I aspire to build something like this.
On a different note, Lili and I discovered a new chinese restaurant by chance. The weather was rather horrible today, but we went and ordered some dimsum for the "cultural block party" (how did SAC come up with such a horrible name?) for thursday anyhow. What kinds did we order? I can tell you we order >5 kinds.. Find out on thurs.
What a long week
April 17, 2009
A long week is finally over. Norah's song describes it quite well..
The Long Day is Over and Gone
Feeling tired
By the fire
The long day is over
The wind is gone
Asleep at dawn
The embers burn on
With no reprise
The sun will rise
The long day is over

TASA nightmarket tmr. Midterm on monday. Meanwhile, weather has turned better - sunnier and warmer.
One more thing: I've started to use Twitter. It's quite fun actually. I found out Michael Phelps, Ryan Seacrest, Larry King, and even Oprah (she started using it today, no kidding) has Twitter accounts. And yes, I do follow them.
Rainy and yucky
April 14, 2009
Weather was horrible today. Unfortunately I had to wake up early and intern, which means walking in the rain.
Meanwhile, our Monetary Analysis class takes attendance now. Why? Because people are not showing up to listen to their classmates' presentations. Thus, draconian measures are taken (I believe it is in a student's best interest to decide if a class is worth going). And indeed, more people showed up today (about 40% more). It's a good thing I guess..

My birthday is near. I want some bubbly.
Cherry Blossoms & Stat
April 6, 2009
Happy Birthday, Nick.
This past Saturday I went to DC to see the annual cherry blossom festival. I wasn't there last year, but compared to last time I went, which is two years ago, this time it's definitely more crowded. Why? Because Saturday was the only day that didn't rain in the whole week..
The cherry blossoms were quite nice. We also briefly visited the Japanese festival (kind of strange that they're celebrating Japanese culture in DC). We pretty much walked around the entire afternoon. For dinner, we met up with Joe and had Malaysian food @ Malaysian Kopitiam. The restaurant that I wanted to go to (Penang, also Malaysian) was closed for renovation. For some unknown reason, I got a headache before dinner.. It felt horrible.
As for today, I had my stat midterm. Our professor wanted a bigger room (he wants us to sit three seats apart), so the exam did not take place in NCSB, and in fact, it was my first time being in the unfamiliar realms of Mudd 26. Anyway, enjoy pictures from Sat for now.

The more you seem to care about yourself (i.e. self-centered), the more others care about you (contrary to popular belief).

Happy April fools day. Nothing spectacular happened today, though my intro business professor thought it'd be fun to give a quiz when I was not there, and when he already gave one two days ago. Oh wait, I was there. Otherwise how could I have handed the quiz in? :D
Recently I've been listening heavily to Mariah Carey, for whatever reason. I always knew she is a good singer, but recent allegations that her voice deteriorated peaked my interest. As much as I hate her new sexy/provocative image, she's got a voice. It first started with the playfully erotic Touch my body, which is from her latest album. Then I looked into the album and discovered two goodies: I stay in love and of course, Bye bye. The latter is about saying goodbye to loved ones and is rather touching, if you listen to the lyrics. I've included it here for you listening pleasure:
P.S. March's total visits was 651 (28804-28153), averaging 21 visits per day. Not bad. Thanks for your support.

21

Wow, I am 21.
I had a very memorable birthday. Thanks to everyone who sent their regards/birthday wishes. Thanks to Derek Lili and Amy who surprised me at the moment the clock turned midnight (although I found out before they managed to surprise me). Thanks for the gifts. Thanks to the 16 people who showed up to dine in McCormick's for a 3-hr long dinner. Thanks for the 'entertainment' after dinner.
