Freefall Saturdays

February 20, 2010

My schedule is rather unbalanced. I am most busy on Mondays and Tuesdays. Both days I have problem sets due, and on top of that, I need to prepare for ta sections on Monday nights. Then after the first two days of the week, my workload lightens. On Fridays I feel like its the weekend already. Then on Saturday, I feel like I'm on holiday, as I push off my work to Sunday.. Hmm. Maybe I should treat Fri+Sat as the 'weekend' and Sunday as a weekday.

I started watching another K drama last night. I am an avid reader of DramaBeans, and noticing the numerous recaps of The woman who still wants to marry, I gave in and watched one episode. I was hooked. I caught up by watching 8 episodes today. It's light, funny, realistic (somewhat) and a little pensive. Why am I writing here and not watching it now? Well, I'm waiting for it to load..

Gigi

February 17, 2010

Today, I discovered that I actually have a lot of songs by Gigi in my library, and many are quite good. She is definitely one of the underappreciated singers in HK. Anyway, enjoy.

Recap; Snowpocalypse

February 11, 2010

Hello all. Let me try my best to recap these past weeks' happenings.

Week of January 18: The second week of intercession. I had a marvelous time preparing a presentation with my team - difficult but I think the process was relatively painless, since everyone prioritized the meetings (though many were at night) and things went quite smoothly. We had our presentation on thurs on T.Rowe Price, and generally it was..well-received. Then for friday and the weekend, I relaxed a bit and also got a haircut.

Week of January 25: Monday the 25th marked the first day of classes. I'm also TA-ing this year. Which class? ProbStat. Fun.. Anyway, classes seem to be going alright so far - time series with Nam Lee seems okay (and hopefully won't turn into a fiasco like last semester's monte carlo simulation); adv. corporate finance is meeting in a cramped up room in WH 104. It's not even a classroom, but rather, a meeting room inside the entrepeneurship minor office. I'm also taking two other classes with Audley, which should be interesting..in theory..

Week of February 1: On tuesday, I held my first TA section. How did it go? I think it went better than expected. I felt unsure and anxious before the section, but once I went in the room (in Hodson (quite a nice and big room)) and saw the students, I gradually calmed down. Like in many situations, once you are put in the position to do/handle something, you will natually feel empowered. I also held my first office hours on thursday, and believe it or not, a student came! Homework wasn't even due until the following tuesday! What an over-achiever, you say. But I'm actually very happy that someone came.. Maybe I should find my TAs sometime too..

This week: Well, there's only one word to remember this week by: snowpocalypse. A record breaking amount of >40 inches of snow fell in the Baltimore area within five days. Roads were blocked and traffic was brought to a halt. It looked very, very pretty all around, as the streets became pure white. Perhaps some pictures to relive the wonderful snowstorm that brought us five days of holiday?

So yes, a week of school was cancelled. But knowing Hopkin's formidable wrath, this will not be 'free'. It was announced that classes will extend for 3 days till mid-may.

During this period, I also got a GF1 (or girlfriend #1?). Will post some pictures of/from it later.. Bye for now!
